The corporate reporting ecosystem’s contract with society
Johannesburg, 5 July 2021 – The world of accounting is rapidly changing as South Africa scrambles to regain its status as one of the world’s leaders in terms of corporate reporting. But the profession has been marred by enormous scandals involving fraud, corruption, and unethical behaviour over the past few years, causing mistrust amongst society for a profession that used to be characterised by integrity.

No challenge too great
The journey to becoming a CA(SA) is never easy, but Ahmad Karolia (28) from Lenasia in Johannesburg proved he has what it takes when, against all odds, he successfully completed his CTA in 2019 after being paralysed due to a rare condition called transverse myelitis. Never did he even consider giving up on his dream of becoming a qualified CA(SA), and he is still going strong.
