Somaya Khaki
Somaya joined SAICA in 2012 as Project Director: Tax Suite. Her role has changed over the years and she is now the Project Director responsible for Operational Advocacy and Member Services within the Tax space. Part of Somaya’s role involves advocating on behalf of members and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including SARS and the Tax Ombud.
She also provides member support in the form of technical and practical guidance, communication of key changes and challenges, and collaborating with stakeholders to address members’ tax administration and SARS operational concerns. Prior to joining SAICA, Khaki was a senior tax manager at Deloitte specialising in corporate tax and employees’ tax.
She has seven years’ experience in providing specialist tax and structuring advice, as well as training to a range of large corporates including listed companies involved in the manufacturing, telecommunications, construction, agricultural and mining sectors. Khaki has also lectured part time at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg campus). She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Taxation.
