Msizi Gwala

Project Director: Enabling Competencies

Msizi joined SAICA on 11 January 2021 and is working in the Members and Global Alliances Division as the Project Director for Enabling Competencies. He is responsible for the implementation and integration of enabling competencies with technical competencies, professional values and attitudes in the value creation process, and also for implementing and maintaining programmes to promote lifelong learning and citizenship attitudes.

After completing his undergraduate studies with Unisa and the PGDA at UCT, Msizi completed his articles with EY Durban. He is a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow and holds a master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Before joining SAICA, Msizi was a Senior Lecturer: Accounting and Auditing at the University of Zululand and was involved in a number of accountancy-related initiatives as a member of their Accounting and Auditing Department. Prior to that, he was employed at the AGSA, where he worked as an audit manager, training manager and technical learning and development manager. He has also served as chairperson of an audit committee for a local municipality.
